My name is Paul Dion and I have been fascinated with computers ever since I typed my name on a keyboard and saw it appear on a television screen in green letters on a black background. I had just bought my first computer, a Radio Shack TRS-80 Color Computer. The year was 1982.
Following the advent and decline of the "COCO" (as the TRS-80 Color Computer was affectionately called), IBM DOS, and MSDOS replaced the Coco, Amiga, and the Commodore. By 1983, Microsoft had already launched its first version of Windows and a steady parade of versions ensued: Windows 1, 2, 2.1, 3, OS/2, 3.1, NT, Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows Millennium Edition (ME), Windows XP (in all its incarnations), Windows Server 2003, the infamous Windows Vista, and the current version named Windows 7.
You may be wondering what this history of computing has to do with Thunder Pages Web Design. The answer is that I have been on the ride from the beginning, and I've used and mastered all of the computers and operating systems that have come and gone. Each new computer or operating system brought new technology, new code, new computer languages, etc. and because of my continued interest and enjoyment of computing, I have amassed a great deal of computer knowledge and expertise. BTW, I do have a working knowledge of the Mac, I own an iMac, although I do not often use it.
I have also enjoyed learning how computers work, and I have built many, many systems from scratch. When it comes to software, I have an innate and intuitive sense and rarely read the manual. OK, let's just say it, I have geekness (but in a sort of "cool" way)...
Beginning in 1998, I became interested in web design. I have created many hundreds of websites since then. I began with simple personal sites, and then began making websites for friends. Eventually, I began making websites for small businesses and was thrilled to find out that my hobby was something that could actually provide revenue.
Now, it's 2010 and I have fine tuned my web design work using effective and comfortable tools that allow me to make the quality websites I now produce. My experience has given me the knowledge and capacity to create a wide variety of websites for which I have set very reasonable rates. Unlike a major website company with dozens of employees and huge overhead, I am an individual web designer. When you call or email, you always get ME. When you have questions or need other help, you get ME. I have no overhead whatsoever as I work at home using my own computers and software and other resources.
